For the last year, educators across the nation joined together to make phone calls, sign petitions, send emails and social media messages urging Congress to bring the joy of teaching and learning back to the classroom.
The hard work has finally paid off.
President Obama has signed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), and it’s a victory for students, parents and educators. The new law will:
- Work to give every child access to a quality education, regardless of ZIP code.
- Empower educators to make decisions that affect their classrooms.
- End test and punish, and making more time for students to learn.
